Nonantum helps raise over $24,000 in
Hurricane Fundraiser
 KENNEBUNKPORT:
Thursday night September 8th at the Nonantum
Resort the community came together to raise
over $24,000 for the American Red Cross and
Hurricane relief efforts.
Nonantum Resort staff all generously donated
their time and the bartenders even donated
their tips for the night to this worthy
cause. Local artists Tom Snow and his Dixie
Jazz ensemble (who also donated their time)
got the event off to a magnificent start
playing for over 2 hours, wrapping up his
crowd pleasing melodies with a New Orleans
classic, “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
Tom then turned over the evening to “Dick
Farnsworth and A Taste of Lace” (also
volunteering their talent to the evenings
festivities) for two more hours of fabulous
tunes and dancing.
While the bands played, guests perused and
bid on the numerous Silent Auction items
generously donated by so many businesses and
individuals in the community. Red Cross
Donations were accepted as Admission, and
the Nonantum provided Complimentary Hor
D’oeuvres for this New Orleans Relief
Fundraiser.
Tina Hewett, General Manager of the Nonantum
knew immediately after the devastating storm
hit the Gulf Coast that they, the Nonantum,
had to do something to help out the many
displaced Southern neighbors. Tina and her
staff worked diligently in the last week to
pull off this great event. After the event
Hewett said, “I want to give an extra
special thanks to the entertainers, all the
area businesses that contributed the
numerous auction items, all those that
attended the fundraiser, the Nonantum owners
and all the Nonantum employees who made this
fundraising possible. And to the Victims of
Hurricane Katrina - we hope this helps.”
